You have probably seen many versions of a shark bait cocktail. Some are made with vodka, some with rum. Some with blue Gatorade, some with pineapple juice while others have used lemon-lime soda, and sour mix.

I tried a few different versions before settling on this concoction.

Why you’ll love this shake bite cocktail recipe

  • It’s refreshing. Made with lemonade as the base of the cocktail, it’s perfect for summer.
  • Just a few drops of grenadine give this tasty cocktail the appearance of blood. You can use a little dropper if you have one but don’t fret if you don’t.
  • It’s a fun drink for a Jaws theme party or Shark Week. Have a little fun with your party guests.
  • There is no need for a cocktail shaker. You make this great drink in a pitcher.
  • The blue curaçao mixed with the lemonade makes greenish-blue water, just like the beach.

Ingredients for a Shark Bite Drink

  • Club Soda – adds delightful effervescence.
  • Lemonade – use homemade or store-bought.
  • Rum – use light rum because dark or spiced rum will affect the colors.
  • Blue Curacao – an orange liqueur that gives the drink the blue color.
  • Splash of Grenadine – adds the blood effect.
  • Gummy Sharks Ice Cubes – instructions to make them are in the printable recipe card below.
  • Lemon Wheels – for garnish.

What type of glass should I use for this shark drink?

I used my fun beer can glasses but a rocks glass would work too.

Can I use vodka in a shark bite cocktail?

Absolutely! It will have a different flavor and more of the orange flavor from the blue curacao will come through.

Where can I get gummy sharks?

I purchased gummy sharks on Amazon. Find a link to them in the recipe card below.

When you serve this shark bite drink, it’s fun to wait and see if your party guests realize there are gummy sharks in their drinks. The custom ice cubes are a great way to level up this fun cocktail.
