Lemonade Tequila Cocktail
When the weather heats up, cool off with a refreshing Lemonade Tequila Cocktail. This easy cocktail combines tart lemonade with smooth tequila that’s perfect for sipping at the pool and backyard parties.
Creating new cocktails is a favorite pastime of mine. I made this tequila lemonade cocktail after my son left some lemonade in the refrigerator when he went back to law school. Not wanting to waste it, I made some happy hour drinks to enjoy with our neighbors. The last cocktail I made with something leftover when my kids went back to college was this sparkling orange margarita.

- Ideal for any casual entertaining event.
- It’s a balance of sweet, tart, and smooth flavors.
- It’s perfect for single servings or for scaling up to larger batches.
- A great way to use up leftover lemonade, but you can make a homemade lemonade if you prefer.
Ingredients
You just need three ingredients to make this summery lemonade tequila cocktail.

- Lemonade – store-bought or homemade is fine.
- Ginger Ale
- Lemon slices for garnish – totally optional, but look pretty in the drink.
Tips and Suggestions
After making this cocktail a few times, here are some things I’ve learned.
- Fill the cocktail glasses with ice just before pouring the mixture into them. You don’t want any water from melted ice to dilute your drink.
- Works well for single servings or large batches. You can easily scale the ingredients for more servings.
- Serve a lemonade tequila cocktail for cookouts, parties, or casual entertaining.
- If you want to make this cocktail a little more special, salt the rim of the glass. It’s not necessary, but it would add a nice touch. Lemon salt, which is very easy to make, would be ideal for rimming the glass of this cocktail.
What can I serve with a lemonade tequila cocktail?
When we have a Friday afternoon happy hour at home, I like to serve a couple of appetizers to go along with our drinks. Usually, they are on the lighter side, such as whipped honey ricotta with homemade tortilla chips or cordon bleu appetizers. Bacon-wrapped appetizers such as bacon-wrapped shrimp or bacon-wrapped smokies are delicious, too.
Can I make this cocktail ahead?
Yes! Mix the lemonade and tequila and keep chilled in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to serve the drinks, add the mixture to glasses filled with ice and then add the ginger ale.
More Tequila Cocktails
If you want more summery tequila drinks, try a tequila sunset, frozen spicy mango margarita, or a classic paloma cocktail. Any of these, including this lemonade tequila cocktail, would be a good choice for a happy hour at home or sipping poolside on a hot day.
Can I make this lemonade tequila cocktail in a pitcher?
Absolutely! Adjust the ingredients for the number of servings you want and combine them in a pitcher. Add ice to the glasses rather than the pitcher to keep the drink from diluting.
What kind of lemonade works best?
The easy answer is your favorite lemonade. If you don’t want to make homemade lemonade, your favorite store-bought will be delicious.
